As part of the “Towards the Inclusive University – Widening access in Uzbekistan” conference to be hosted at WIUT on May 17, 2022, the Centre for Professional and Lifelong Education and the Student Support Services organized a training on “Inclusion of People with Disabilities in Higher Education” on May 7, 2022. The training was facilitated by Ulugbek Mamatkhanov and Aziz Abdullayev from the Public Association of Disabled People “Sharoit Plus”. Sharoit Plus is a non-governmental non-profit organization that aims to create a barrier-free and inclusive society for all people with disabilities in Uzbekistan.

The aim of the training for WIUT staff and student-volunteers was to explain a general concept of disability from the point of view of the social / human rights model of disability according to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, as well as to teach the correct terminology and culture of communication with disabled people.
