TEACHING AND LEARNING IN TURBULENT TIMES: LOOKING BACK, LOOKING FORWARD - MAY 28TH, 2021

The Teaching and Learning Symposium held on May 28th, 2021 opened the floor for faculty members and guests to discuss the effects of and experiences during the pandemic. Below is the description of the presentations organized around general views and specific pedagogical decisions.

PANDEMIC AND ITS IMPACT ON TEACHING & LEARNING: A BIBLIOMETRIC STUDY SINCE 2002-2021
Dr. Anil Kumar, Marketing & Management  

Anil Kumar conducted the bibliometric study of over 1,000 studies looking into various forms of online teaching and learning across 117 countries. The numbers of publications have exponentially increased in 2020-21. Some of the findings indicate that access to technologies (Internet, data plans, hardware, software, etc.) and high quality assessment systems were some of the challenges worldwide.

FROM FACE-TO-FACE TO ONLINE: STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT COMPARISON
Gayrat Suyunov, Gulnaz Bektemirova, & Shahzaib Ahmed Khan; Economics, Marketing & Management, & Global Education

Their presentation looked at the differences in students’ achievement between face-to-face and traditional modes of instruction. They looked at student performance in the Academic English module at the foundation level. The results showed that females did a little better in online mode rather than males.
